Even though he's not going to be part of my force, I painted him up as Black Legion.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">He was fairly simple to paint up. After a Black basecoat, I sprayed Warpfiend Grey onto all the upper areas that would catch the light. I used Warpfiend Grey as it has a touch of purple to it which looks a bit more interesting than just plain grey. The cloak was Scab Red with Blood red sprayed onto the upper folds. Blazing Orange was used to highlight the edges The metallics were nothing special, just silver with an earthshade wash, and gold (any gold will do) with a sepia wash followed by an earthshade was directly in the recesses. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">After an black ink wash into all the recesses, I cleaned up any overspill with white spirit, then highlighted the armour with Slaanesh grey on the extreme edges.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I was thinking of making a tutorial on how I paint Black Legion...hopefully, someone is interested...</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02196962118037628592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5371158434431870781.post-71939462857469990262012-12-15T07:19:00.000-08:002012-12-15T07:19:06.327-08:00Black Legion recruitment...<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I'm in the process, as you may or may not know, of making a Black Legion Chaos Marine force. <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This guy is the test model for the black armour paint job. It's a spray of Abaddon black, then a highlighting spray of Warpfiend Grey and a line highlight of Slaanesh grey and a wash of Nuln oil. I think the line highlights are too bright at the moment, so maybe an initial line highlight of Warpfiend grey followed by an extreme highlight of Slaanesh grey would be better. That way, if the highlights are still a little too bright, the Nuln oil wash will help them blend in a little better...</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02196962118037628592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5371158434431870781.post-6334170443974683682012-12-12T08:51:00.000-08:002012-12-12T08:51:07.620-08:00How to Paint Dethskull Orks<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">A quick word before we start...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD8dbsyjCqBFDGzi7Q5KmUzfHLOy3O5nBmXgzf0siV_bq5X_BKnxPyJRxRp0Xtsxev_gOCbepGnxUY0EbEsF5L7QCoa0UfvAVNmgJOBvvfcqazt6DPOt1H0FtudCg21IyFFFI59tp9U6I/s1600/Orks18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD8dbsyjCqBFDGzi7Q5KmUzfHLOy3O5nBmXgzf0siV_bq5X_BKnxPyJRxRp0Xtsxev_gOCbepGnxUY0EbEsF5L7QCoa0UfvAVNmgJOBvvfcqazt6DPOt1H0FtudCg21IyFFFI59tp9U6I/s320/Orks18.jpg" width="218" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">A few years back, I tried to start an Ork army...2 mobs of boyz later and I was sick of painting them. I admit, my painting ability wasn't as good as it is now (subjectively speaking), but I was still trying to paint them to the best of my ability. This may be fine when painting a small, elite force like Marines or an Aspect Warrior heavy Eldar force, but with a horde force, you're gonna get bored sooner or later.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, this tutorial is my attempt at coming up with a quick and simple paint scheme that still looks pretty good on the table top.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Paints you'll need: </span><a href="http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Paint_Range_Compatibility_Chart" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Old to New Citadel paint chart</span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Chaos Black and Skull White</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Graveyard Earth</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Caliban Green</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Knarloc Green</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Rotting Flesh</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Chainmail</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Scorched Brown</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Dhenab Stone</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Gryphonne Sepia</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Devlan Mud</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Mithril Silver</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Necron Abyss</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Caledor Sky</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Ice Blue</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Waywatcher Green</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Blood Red</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">1. Prime your model. I suggest a light primer such as white. However, I used Vallejo grey primer.</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">2. Paint all clothing and cloth with Graveyard Earth.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqTgDQfw-sln8XWx66Sv18yTNn_WyqncaiNdr8aEMGswI42TU6R5PF26K-jB70ZM_Ci_kAi3BEfZb-LC1wvLkPhQcYeuryrEhHig0ijRnIvyImwUukWLFr3NKM67kJIrCnCPQ-qkNx0VI/s1600/Orks2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqTgDQfw-sln8XWx66Sv18yTNn_WyqncaiNdr8aEMGswI42TU6R5PF26K-jB70ZM_Ci_kAi3BEfZb-LC1wvLkPhQcYeuryrEhHig0ijRnIvyImwUukWLFr3NKM67kJIrCnCPQ-qkNx0VI/s320/Orks2.jpg" width="210" /></span></a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I used an airbrush to apply on my mini, but you can just as easily use a normal brush. I'm just being lazy. It's the only time I used an airbrush on this mini.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">3. Paint the Skin using Caliban Green</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBOF7lahCu4My1rctOxiKd8lBwY4zPgPkdr24Qsz58_6pQxffuFd2vqrQyBFAegyMlc5Azk_rMNHP7M5BNJZje5-SQRwBdIkB7VbEXVaPbrvcCqIZ6qQlLQxH52qZMRdJ8YdFg28fUIAE/s1600/Orks3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBOF7lahCu4My1rctOxiKd8lBwY4zPgPkdr24Qsz58_6pQxffuFd2vqrQyBFAegyMlc5Azk_rMNHP7M5BNJZje5-SQRwBdIkB7VbEXVaPbrvcCqIZ6qQlLQxH52qZMRdJ8YdFg28fUIAE/s320/Orks3.jpg" width="238" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This will help us when painting the skin. It's an instant layer of shading, and Ork skin is very easy to paint as it is, what with those big muscles on display. Try to be a bit neater than I was...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Try to make your brush strokes follow the direction of the muscle, leaving the Caliban Green in all the recessed areas. We make this look better later on, I promise...</span><br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq8sEw9U5bDsQN8Ga53LKTz3WoW84VIoJUfFEu_oNs26uFXTqQgiqUyW-ui0me0mWP7lhVlvjDqAxHZaGfBYiv7HyQjhamK3MH9VXs4V07sfPZtYvbfB8eDOQ5sjfacggrm1lmGG15pA8/s1600/Orks8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="172" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq8sEw9U5bDsQN8Ga53LKTz3WoW84VIoJUfFEu_oNs26uFXTqQgiqUyW-ui0me0mWP7lhVlvjDqAxHZaGfBYiv7HyQjhamK3MH9VXs4V07sfPZtYvbfB8eDOQ5sjfacggrm1lmGG15pA8/s200/Orks8.jpg" width="200" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This was as much as I painted the boots because a) they're the very bottom of the model and not that important and b) a little bit of dusting while basing hides any detail anyway.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">9. Paint the teeth with Dhenab Stone.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzmKF5gCykDwxTeunt3ZlfHvo37WPwjh8sMxLjmOekd_hiz67sOXbyp-5z9oiZUTCakWJH3AHCIDP6KGg2xvBlL5vjqEE_ot2ezzrtuZIYaDDpIbXssDZ8e4ObngZR20mDAuKNItxRmN0/s1600/Orks9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzmKF5gCykDwxTeunt3ZlfHvo37WPwjh8sMxLjmOekd_hiz67sOXbyp-5z9oiZUTCakWJH3AHCIDP6KGg2xvBlL5vjqEE_ot2ezzrtuZIYaDDpIbXssDZ8e4ObngZR20mDAuKNItxRmN0/s200/Orks9.jpg" width="200" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Normally, a feature such as this would be given more work, it's a focus of the face...but this is our quick version, and the wash we'll apply later will just give this enough zing for a forgettable foot soldier...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">10. Highlight all clothing, cloth and straps with Dhenab Stone.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0Afo8rzJClrP__2481E1p1n67X29ZE7oX0whiGSwE2i8bzOb7JfOXbrevinh5_lT1b7wINC5meNFaTJ0KbDgR-vsGEqrhuOdywUz0vcWnof3bNFf0LhBSK6w9TwolM23eva3ABj8K9ic/s1600/Orks10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0Afo8rzJClrP__2481E1p1n67X29ZE7oX0whiGSwE2i8bzOb7JfOXbrevinh5_lT1b7wINC5meNFaTJ0KbDgR-vsGEqrhuOdywUz0vcWnof3bNFf0LhBSK6w9TwolM23eva3ABj8K9ic/s200/Orks10.jpg" width="186" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">On some of the areas, this may not look quite right. However, the next step will sort this out. Using such a light colour will give us the illusion of bright highlights without having to work up through the various grades.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">11. Cover EVERYTHING but the skin in Gryphonne Sepia.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnhwUA9qRA8lCmQZqFWXq7GEJXEDRiJD7RedwfR_PNMgwhzyKXqc2KmGxM1DqUX4I0BQkzR0Tq6P8gJ3uV6r2xdP_A2VCigBXz-hwiC0rtLPFIHAEuHMKxkiKVwNcTYVA0G-NV3kliAy4/s1600/Orks11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnhwUA9qRA8lCmQZqFWXq7GEJXEDRiJD7RedwfR_PNMgwhzyKXqc2KmGxM1DqUX4I0BQkzR0Tq6P8gJ3uV6r2xdP_A2VCigBXz-hwiC0rtLPFIHAEuHMKxkiKVwNcTYVA0G-NV3kliAy4/s320/Orks11.jpg" width="216" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">You can do this straight from the bottle. No need to thin the wash as the main idea here is to stain everything. It makes the metal areas dirtier and stains all those Dhenab Stone highlights brown.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">12. Cover all metal in Devlan Mud.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNwrJ1ydF5SaOwcgEdvfbw_vvDCqzjm0BHvVWWPnE4Od-K2ZQtGs9xCXBW1yRJcy3DQcSqdWC_vgBzJSg8IO3IeuDI9dMTjayve3wE4C-VK4PJNjUEDz0bZi4fHeUj-oUoEWzTpZMFOSM/s1600/Orks12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNwrJ1ydF5SaOwcgEdvfbw_vvDCqzjm0BHvVWWPnE4Od-K2ZQtGs9xCXBW1yRJcy3DQcSqdWC_vgBzJSg8IO3IeuDI9dMTjayve3wE4C-VK4PJNjUEDz0bZi4fHeUj-oUoEWzTpZMFOSM/s320/Orks12.jpg" width="224" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This makes the metal look even dirtier. Orks aren't known for their cleanliness...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">13. Add Devlan mud to all the recesses (except the skin).</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxtzl0mwpp9ruEc0iFCeT0e-gYka6KsTso2spf-ndgCcDxLRsU_8EMVYn4MVOdeCGyq6U6h5EHh7qiIMajcRoGzj18qCeXfi2aI63dtyN-7QXQKFVKGUcmMVIK-XJeVVhhPEZWVhWyDLk/s1600/Orks13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxtzl0mwpp9ruEc0iFCeT0e-gYka6KsTso2spf-ndgCcDxLRsU_8EMVYn4MVOdeCGyq6U6h5EHh7qiIMajcRoGzj18qCeXfi2aI63dtyN-7QXQKFVKGUcmMVIK-XJeVVhhPEZWVhWyDLk/s320/Orks13.jpg" width="157" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This is easy shading, just dip your brush into the Devlan mud, removing the excess, and run it around any recesses. Go around the metal, clothes and straps and even a little around the teeth.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">14. Drybrush all metal with Chainmail.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7sAEkqBdfJvsaUHdOIO1HXcZsRpuoCa_rZsIcHlGPscs5MKHE9EXFvB3mA29xLCzqs9kF7lEB0szA1VW3Ke-Peb4ZyB9NNcSZFO_JPrNM6q4x4qQoUPck6VZ6p-cz8EdcNH8PQ0OoV6Y/s1600/Orks14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7sAEkqBdfJvsaUHdOIO1HXcZsRpuoCa_rZsIcHlGPscs5MKHE9EXFvB3mA29xLCzqs9kF7lEB0szA1VW3Ke-Peb4ZyB9NNcSZFO_JPrNM6q4x4qQoUPck6VZ6p-cz8EdcNH8PQ0OoV6Y/s320/Orks14.jpg" width="208" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Then, edge highlight the metal with Mithril Silver. For those who don't know, keep your paint nice and thin, load up your detail brush with paint, remove the excess and the draw the side of your brush over the edge of the detail. This should leave a thin line along the area you want highlighting. Remember, THIN AND EDGE.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">15. I forgot to take a picture of this next step, but you'll see it's results in the next step. Go over the skin using a glaze of Waywatcher Green. This will blend all the different greens on the skin together and make the highlights look smoother.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">16. Paint any areas that you want blue using Necro Abyss.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhemGk8XoBLQxkdd9WK_nfId1bKRHqnQ03hjigCHyIbUd2UrDX-ujaaOJqdEzg5RokyaHzXcnZ-oeFszIn3bLo_jn-8Ko2xxBfc4avhgj2DHpTAETvppghDXPJHrq5xncWYS4CIlAWD2YE/s1600/Orks15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhemGk8XoBLQxkdd9WK_nfId1bKRHqnQ03hjigCHyIbUd2UrDX-ujaaOJqdEzg5RokyaHzXcnZ-oeFszIn3bLo_jn-8Ko2xxBfc4avhgj2DHpTAETvppghDXPJHrq5xncWYS4CIlAWD2YE/s200/Orks15.jpg" width="168" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I then highlighted these using Caledor Blue.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">17. Highlight the blue using Ice Blue.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJmbEG3KS36MepBcwBxCbZDtkymBEwS2ehMgynzu9srhS6hRcZgFTYqB3PmmRc_W7Saz1zvY1ENtkwVVkUztRB-aHuw-4ZEuq25D_1brWQpsMciJD0LNfvvV-CtgzrDGlBwVhXzDen8QY/s1600/Orks16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJmbEG3KS36MepBcwBxCbZDtkymBEwS2ehMgynzu9srhS6hRcZgFTYqB3PmmRc_W7Saz1zvY1ENtkwVVkUztRB-aHuw-4ZEuq25D_1brWQpsMciJD0LNfvvV-CtgzrDGlBwVhXzDen8QY/s200/Orks16.jpg" width="145" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Then, paint the eyes with Blood Red. Usually, a bit more work goes into painting eyes. But these guys are to be thrown against the enemy in their droves. If the enemy can't see the whites of their eyes, they won't know when to open fire...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">18. Base the mini and there you are. I based mine using green stuff to build up texture, and then painted it with textured paint. A basecoat of Graveyard Earth followed by a drybrush of Dhenab Stone makes a nice bare, sandy looking wasteland.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX9g-pfxOf_iFeaGZdI2hrlLkhqGkMvNg6x0UqBu7HfvSYbymGB4biNLHyCAWvHfua_Kz3QVujMyDXqlTVCPV8UFfpOdYOTeSGIGv9TaQSYxEVr-yv4qsfrNnxri1ilVbl8puAvTCfaoo/s1600/Orks17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img bea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX9g-pfxOf_iFeaGZdI2hrlLkhqGkMvNg6x0UqBu7HfvSYbymGB4biNLHyCAWvHfua_Kz3QVujMyDXqlTVCPV8UFfpOdYOTeSGIGv9TaQSYxEVr-yv4qsfrNnxri1ilVbl8puAvTCfaoo/s320/Orks17.jpg" width="218" /></span></a></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">So, the How to paint Orks tutorial is almost ready, should be going up in the next couple of days. In case any of you were wondering (snigger...), it'll be for Dethskulls. I don't get the chance to paint any blue, so even a tiny bit on this fella makes a nice change for me.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In the mean time, here's a little sneaky peeky at my newest project, my own Black Legion force. This is my newly assembled Chaos Lord and his Chosen retinue...</span><br />

I had converted him to appear more like the artwork in C:CSM. After a bit of reposing the guardsman (he was a bit stiff...), he was ready to paint.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">He's turned out a little messier than I wanted so far. This is my second attempt...The idea was to paint him in the original Deathguard colour scheme of bone-marble white with dark green decoration and then to add weathering. I went a little overboard with the weathering it would seem. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">What you are looking at right now is him right after an oil wash, so he still has a fair bit of shine about him and needs a good matte varnish. Hopefully, after the final highlights to the armour and metallics (and guardsman) he will look better.</span><br />
